Marathahalli is roughly two to six kilometres from most of the tech parks along the Outer Ring Road, and about ten to twelve kilometres from Whitefield. On paper those are short distances. In practice your travel time depends far more on what time you leave than on how far you are going.

Why this corridor exists
The stretch of Outer Ring Road running from Marathahalli through Kadubeesanahalli, Devarabisanahalli and Bellandur holds one of the densest concentrations of office space in India. Within a few kilometres of each other sit DivyaSree Technopolis, Prestige Tech Park, Embassy Tech Village, RMZ Ecoworld, Cessna Business Park, Helios Business Park and Global Technology Park, with Bagmane Constellation just north at Doddanekundi and the larger Whitefield cluster further east.
Marathahalli sits at the western end of that chain. It is not the cheapest place to live in East Bangalore, and it is not the quietest. What it offers is being inside the cluster rather than commuting into it.

DivyaSree Technopolis, Yemlur The closest of the lot, a couple of kilometres away off Old Airport Road, sharing the same 560037 postcode. Home to Deloitte, LSEG, Fujitsu, HDFC Bank, EY and Thomson Reuters among others. Close enough that many people here walk or take a short auto ride rather than dealing with the ORR at all.
Prestige Tech Park and Cessna Business Park, Kadubeesanahalli Four to five kilometres east along the ORR. Straightforward on a two wheeler outside peak hours. During peak, the Kadubeesanahalli stretch is one of the slower sections of the corridor.
Embassy Tech Village and Helios Business Park, Devarabisanahalli Five to six kilometres, further along the same road. Embassy Tech Village houses Wells Fargo, Flipkart and Cognizant, and Goldman Sachs sits nearby at Helios.
RMZ Ecoworld and Global Technology Park, Bellandur Six to seven kilometres, at the far end of the Bellandur stretch. The most traffic exposed of the ORR options from here, because you cross the length of the corridor to reach it.
Bagmane Constellation, Doddanekundi Four to five kilometres north, and a useful alternative to note because it avoids the ORR entirely if you take the inner roads. Worth distinguishing from Bagmane Tech Park, which is a different property in CV Raman Nagar and considerably further away.
Whitefield and ITPB Ten to twelve kilometres east. Perfectly commutable and many people here do it daily, but this is the one where timing matters most. Leaving thirty minutes earlier can halve the journey.
All of these are approximate road distances. Anyone who has driven this corridor knows the number that matters is the clock, not the odometer.
The three things that actually decide your commute
When you leave. This is not a small factor on the ORR, it is the dominant one. The same five kilometre stretch can take twelve minutes or forty five depending entirely on whether you are travelling with the peak or against it. People who live here successfully tend to shift their hours, even slightly, rather than fight the flow.
What you travel on. A two wheeler is the most common choice along this corridor for good reason, since it handles congestion in a way four wheels cannot. Buses work well if a route matches your journey. Cabs and autos are the least predictable during peak, because they are subject to the same traffic as everyone else at the highest cost.
Which side of the road you live on. Genuinely worth thinking about. Crossing the ORR during peak hours adds time, and if your office is on the far side of the road from your accommodation, the last four hundred metres can take longer than the preceding four kilometres.
Choosing where to live within Marathahalli
Marathahalli is a large area, and the internal layouts differ considerably from the main road.
Living directly on the main road or on the service road puts you closest to transport and to everything commercial, and gives you constant noise in return. Living inside the residential layouts a few streets back, such as Kaveri Layout, gives you a much quieter street while adding only a few minutes to reach the main road.
For anyone working long hours or taking calls from home, that trade is usually worth making. The commute difference is minor. The difference in how the place feels at ten at night is not.
